Southern Nevada Chapter News

Join us for the running of the  Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3,  2014. This event  will take place at the Slated Lime Restaurant, which is more convenient than Churchill Downs. We will have a guest speaker who has bred race horses in Las Vegas. See below to get a flyer download and  view more information.

Read the Alumni Associations magazine, Alumni Beat, for fascinating news and articles about current activities at CCNY. This on-line magazine is published by the Alumni Association. You can always find Alumni Beat in the left sidebar under Links.

Were you ever curious about the controversial, neo-gothic, architecture of the original CCNY campus at 138th St. and Convent Avenue? Then see "The Very Model of a University" by Christopher Gray. This historical perspective was published in the New York Times, Streetscapes on 9 Jan 2014.

You haven't paid your 2013-2014 Alumni Association dues yet? You can still pay on-line. Here's how:
(1) Read these instructions, then click the pay here link at the end of this paragraph.
(2) When the Join or Renew page opens, read the short notice and find your payment.
(3) Scroll down the page and click the Pay Now button for your appropriate payment.
(4) Fill-in the information and choose your method of payment. Most credit cards and Pay Pal are accepted.

Pay here.

We are very proud of Board members, Ken and Michele Stern, who received the Alumni Service Award at CCNY on June 13, 2012. Ken and Michele worked behind the scenes to support CCNY. Past recipients from our chapter also included Dominic and Rosemary Fugarino, and Arlette Ford.

In the 2011-2012 year, our Chapter donated $4,000 to the Alumni Association for scholarships. This year we were able to give only $1,500. Scholarships are made possible by our alumni, families, and friends who have attended our fun events and donated to our Scholarship Fund. The cost of education has not diminished even though our scholarship has. You can still make a difference in the life of a deserving student by making a tax-deductible gift to the CCNY-SNC Scholarship Fund.

Do you have news you would like to share with the Chapter? Please contact the Webmaster.

- Les Braun, CCNY-SNC Webmaster

Calendar of Events

Saturday, May 3,  2014 - Kentucky Derby Party

Join us at 1PM for lunch and a talk by Izzie Razack. Mr.  Razack owned and raised race horses with blood lines linked to the Kentucky Derby. In addition to a delicious lunch and a fascinating talk, we will view magnificent horses in HD on a large screen. In honor of our patronage, the chef is preparing a special CCNY Derby Sundae treat for dessert. For more information, and to get a mail-in reservation form, view and print the flyer.

Event notices will be posted here (if received on time). Otherwise, you will only receive fliers directly from the CCNY Alumni Association by postal mail.

Important notes about event changes - please read this.
